INSET Days & Twilight Sessions

Many schools talk to us about our training offering after having witnessed first hand the effect that a Bamboozle performance can have on their students. Before embarking on a full scale training programme schools often bring us in to deliver an INSET day so that they can begin to explore the principles of Bamboozle’s unique methodology.

We provide whole staff INSET sessions covering a wide range of topics, such as:

• Introducing more creativity into the whole curriculum
• Engaging children using drama as a starting point
• Enabling greater engagement for learners who are described as having profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD) or for autistic learners
• Ways of working with students whose behaviour challenges us
• Creating and using multi-sensory environments
• Creating an enabled learning environment

Each session is designed around the particular needs of your school and includes a range of practical exercises as well as explanations of the theories behind the methodology.

As an example an INSET day might include:

1. An introduction to the principles of the Bamboozle Approach
2. An interactive demonstration of the Approach in practice
3. An interactive demonstration of how to engage students and sustain their interest
4. The group splits into two for a focussed session on working with autistic children alongside a focussed session on working with children described as having PMLD
5. Whole group sharing and discussion
6. Q&A

We can also provide Twilight INSET sessions to fit in with your staff meetings and on-going CPD programmes – these might be of particular interest if you are having a Bamboozle show at your school and would like staff who have been to a performance to find out more about the Approaches used in the performance. Shorter twilight sessions explore a limited topic and might include:

• The Bamboozle Approach – a quick-start guide for the classroom
•  Free exploration & exploratory play
• Language for learning
• Working with Resistance & challenging behaviour
• Creative expression
• Using characters for engagement & interaction
• Multi-sensory, immersive environments
• Narrative
• Puppets
• Music & sound
