Nicole Arkless, Associate Director: Education & Training & Freelance Artist

Nicole has been involved with theatre for most of her life having caught the acting bug at Youth Theatre as a child. She studied French and Theatre at Warwick University and acted in a number of productions whilst there. Ghetto, her last production at Warwick, went on to win the Guardian International Student Drama Award at the Edinburgh Festival and Nicole was named Best Actress of the Festival (jointly with Miranda Richardson) by BBC Radio 5 Live.

After graduation, Nicole moved to London to work in mainstream theatre and children’s TV. She left the industry after a few years and entered the corporate world where she did a variety of jobs before accidentally ending up managing the development of a global website system for a large Japanese corporation.

The corporate world was not for Nicole, however, and in 2009 she began working with Bamboozle and took part in her first residency. Since then, as a freelance artist, she has been on the devising and performance teams for a number of Bamboozle’s productions and has been lucky enough to perform all over the UK as well as in Malta, China and Australia. Nicole also works as a facilitator and delivers training for Bamboozle. Since 2010 Nicole has been heavily involved in Bamboozle’s education projects where she has documented practice and helped develop the Bamboozle Approach. She delivers school CPD programmes and a variety of other training sessions. Since 2018 Nicole has had a permanent post at Bamboozle overseeing its increasing number of education projects.
